Many are not aware of the principle meaning behind the company name “TEIN”, but it actually stands for “TE”CHNICAL “IN”NOVATION”. It has been TEIN’s core priciple to provide state of the art technology since the company was established in 1985 in Yokohama, Japan. TEIN still shows they can deliver that very same promise of Technical Innovation today with the release of the brand new Flex Z coilover system.
The new Flex Z system falls under their “Street & Track” category, giving it a premium step up from their standard “Street Performace” product line. Derived from the popular Street Flex coilovers, the Flex Z inherits the same ultimate balance of comfort and performance for both street and track driving, along with a wide range of damping force adjustment.
The Flex Z shares the same driving charataristics as the popular Street Flex becuase it shares much of the same technology. The Advanced Needle technology allowing for 16 levels of dynamic damping control, the Twin Tube Internal construction providing a supple ride over bumps at low speed while remaining stable at high speed, and the Full-length ride height adjustment system that keeps a constant damper stroke and spring pre-load though-out the adjustable ride height range, are all straight off the more expensive Street Flex coilover system.
They’re still made to the same high quality standard in the Yokohama factory just like the rest of TEIN’s premium suspension systems. But what sets these new coilovers apart from the rest of TEIN’s line up, is their new “Sealed Structure” manufacturing process able to drastically reduce production time by incorporating more efficient manufacturing methods. More importantly that translates to a lower priced performance coilover system perfect for the daily driver that spends it’s weekends on the track.
